INJECTABLES
What is Deoxycholic acid?
Deoxycholic acid is an enzyme injected into a small treatment area that can dissolve in fat over time. It is a natural bile salt the body produces to aid in fat absorption. When injected into a targeted area, the enzyme emulsifies excess fat, which is metabolized by your lymphatic system and excreted. The most common area treated with deoxycholic acid is beneath the chin, commonly known as a 'double chin,' which aims to enhance the profile and jawline contour.
How does Deoxycholic Acid work?
When injected into fat cells, deoxycholic acid disrupts and destroys their membranes. Subsequently, the dismantled fat cells enter the body's waste system for natural elimination. This treatment permanently reduces fat in the treated area.
Deoxycholic acid treatments are versatile and can be combined with other procedures and injectables for comprehensive results. Nurse Jacklyn often combines this treatment with Morpheus8 by Inmode to tighten the skin around the chin, jawline and neck. Jawline and chin fillers may be required as well to create an anterior projection on the chin and defined jawline.

What does the treatment involve?
Nurse Jacklyn will carefully mark off the intended area of treatment and apply a topical numbing cream for 20 minutes.
The treatment takes about 20 minutes and involves a series of injections beneath the chin. Post-injection, an ice pack is applied to the area to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Treatment Plan and Results
The number of required sessions depends on the individual goals and underlying anatomy, with an average of 2 to 4 sessions spaced six weeks apart. While the injections initiate immediate action, the body takes several weeks to eliminate waste, gradually revealing the results.
Risks and Side Effects
A numbing cream is applied to mitigate discomfort, rendering the area numb for an extended period. Due to the inflammatory response triggered by fat cell breakdown, immediate redness and swelling are anticipated, persisting for several days to a week or more.
Possible bruising may occur, a common side effect of injections. Still, it can be easily concealed with makeup and typically resolves within a few days.
It's essential to note that this treatment does not address loose or sagging skin.
