Botox Therapeutic

Can Botox be used for medical reasons?

The answer is yes! Botox has a wide range of medical applications. Many medical indications are treated with Botox Therapeutic, including neck spasms, bruxism (teeth grinding), excessive sweating and migraines, to name a few.

Nurse Jacklyn offers Botox Therapeutic treatments for:

  • Hyperhidrosis
  • Bruxism
  • Migraines

  • Botox for Hyperhidrosis

Botox can successfully eliminate excessive sweating in the armpits and palms of hands. Our sweat glands (Eccrine glands) are particularly numerous on the feet, palms, face, and armpits. When your body is overheated, moving around, feeling emotional, or as a result of hormones, nerves activate the sweat glands. This is how you sweat. When those nerves overreact, it causes hyperhidrosis, an overproduction of sweat.

How long do the results last?
Results from your hyperhidrosis treatment can last approximately 4-6 months (can vary).

Is Botox for hyperhidrosis covered by insurance?
If you suffer from hyperhidrosis, check with your insurance provider to see if you have coverage. Most insurance providers cover the cost of the drug. However, the patient is still responsible for the therapeutic injection fee with Nurse Jacklyn.

    Botox for Teeth Grinding (Bruxism)

Temporomandibular (TMJ) syndrome is a medical condition that causes pain in your jaw. It is often caused by teeth grinding due to hypertrophic masseter muscles, especially during sleep or during times of stress. Botox can effectively treat TMJ by relaxing the jaw muscles so you no longer grind your teeth or reduce the amount you grind, hopefully saving the integrity of your teeth.

Botox is injected into the masseter muscle, binds to the receptors of the motor nerves that cause tension and prevents the muscle from contracting. This treatment can reduce the pain and damage caused by teeth grinding.

How long do the results last?
Most patients experience improvement that lasts approximately 4-6 months (can vary).

    BOTOX FOR

    Migraine Headaches

A migraine is known to be a debilitating throbbing headache. It can lead to feelings of nausea and an increased sensitivity to light or sound. Some patients experience migraines several times a week, whereas others can experience excruciating headaches a few times a month.

How Can Botox help reduce migraines?
Botox is injected into the muscle and attached to the receptors on the motor nerves, which interferes with pain-associated neurotransmission. Alongside other remedies, Botox Therapeutic may help reduce the severity of the migraine, improving your ability to function and cope with chronic migraines. After the Botox injections are completed, it may take 4-14 days to feel relief. If the first session does not help your migraine symptoms, additional treatments may be needed for the Botox to become effective.
