Bellafill®

Bellafill®, also known as the 5-year filler, is a semi-permanent injectable filler utilized for facial volume restoration and reduction of acne scars. Bellafill is a biostimulatory filler that contains bovine collagen and stimulates your body to produce collagen around it. Bellafill is the only collagen filler available in Canada and the longest-lasting filler. It has a long history as a safe treatment and has been used in aesthetic medicine for decades.

How does Bellafill® work?

Bellafill® is administered gradually in multiple stages to facilitate the restoration and rebuilding of the skin's matrix, resulting in a natural-looking outcome.

As a Health Canada Approved product, Bellafill® is exclusively administered by highly trained providers. Nurse Jacklyn has over ten years of experience using this product and is a proud National Clinical Trainer for Bellafill®.

What is Bellafill® made of?

Bellafill® consists of microscopic polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres suspended in a smooth bovine collagen gel base. Over time, these microspheres act as a scaffold, promoting the development of your body's natural collagen. This newly formed collagen serves as a foundation, adding volume to deep folds, wrinkles, and acne scar depressions and reducing their visibility. With clinical evidence supporting its long-lasting effects beyond five years, Bellafill® offers a durable, semi-permanent solution.

Risks and Side Effects of Bellafill®

Potential side effects and complications are generally mild and temporary, including expected swelling, redness, and tenderness near the treated areas. Bruising may occur, typically limited in scope, but the discoloration and swelling may persist for several weeks.

Allergic reactions to the bovine collagen component of Bellafill® are rare (1% or less). While dermal filler treatments are elective, patients usually express high satisfaction with the results.
